Deep need for art these days? I personally am not a fan of art and have never been even close to an amateur. But, all's not so bad. I do appreciate contemporary art, and find this genre to be much more invigorating than classic art in general. Why? Don't know, guess the thought of looking at a painting which is a copy of what is present in nature already (talking about landscape paintings) isn't that appealing. Think it's much more interesting to take the viewer to a place in his thoughts which he isn't well acquainted with. A place where he will move into an emotional conflict or a conflict of judgement. I'm talking about stunts people like Jean-Michel Basquiat pulled off. Really nice and mind blowing, right?
Not saying that Yanina Chernih is of Jean-Michel's calibre, but she sure is a great artist and I am thrilled by the fact that I had the chance to be her teacher and friend. She even presented me with a painting. The painting on question is this one below here.
I can go on and on about the reasons for liking Yanina and being interested in her art, but you can all click on the link below and visit her blog which is probably the best way to get acquainted with her...

Amazing right? With further insight to her art you get to discover a world that blows your mind away. A world so immersive and personal, it strikes you at first sight. Moreover, Yanina is Russian. I know that some of you there might be appalled by the "she's from Russia" sentence, but the thing is that unlike other countries out there, Russia hasn't produced anything worth viewing in the past years in terms of art. So, it's even more surprising to find a young talent in this neck of the woods.
