Wasteland

Hi guys going to talk about yet another movie that made me cry. Don't get me wrong though there are only three of them so far, I'm talking about I Am Sam (same emotions felt by a friend of mine,  Alterleo) and another movie called Powder (about this a bit later). So, very emotional movie right here and moreover it's a documentary called Waste Land.

So when you hear Waste Land, what's the first thing you think of? I'm sure you get associations like: Third world countries, landfills, environment and of course waste, right? Well if you do, you're definitely right. However, the main issue discussed or described in this wonderful movie is not how to deal with waste or recycling, but rather how Vik Muniz (more details about him later) one of the greatest contemporary artists out there goes back to his homeland, Brazil in an effort to change the life of pickers who spend their lives working in landfills in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Hope this trailer down here will give you a better idea of this great movie.

"Change the life of people by using the same material they deal with everyday". What a thing to say when you think about the fact that Vik Muniz was going to place where people have a hopeless kind of existence. Watching this movie, gives you a desire to contemplate on what you "have" and others so desperately "don't". In short, a life changing experience highly recommended. Never forget "What you are is not what you have, but what you know". E. A. Denis
