Hello everyone, are you into Hip - Hop? Yes? Well then this post is definitely for you. And I'm not talking about you regular "B****, N****, H*** and M*****F****" Hip - Hop, but something different. I'm talking of one of the greatest Hip - Hop bands out there. That's right "The Roots" are coming straight at ya!!!
I'm sure that there are a lot of guys out there who after looking at the picture above, were like "Oh these are the roots? I see". Well yeah, those are "The Roots". The think you should most likely know about a band like "The Roots", is that they are probably the only band out there who does Hip - Hop "Live", that's right these guys have the whole set (drums, guitars etc). Unlike most Hip - Hope sounds out there which are obtained by layering sampled sounds on a "sampler" or what have you. I personally don't have anything against sampling and cutting, actually most of the Hip - Hop I'm into is done in that way. Yet still it's a really fine thing that there are bands out there which are still doing the real stuff there. And it sounds real great, too. But if you are interested in the historical or biographical aspect of the bond between "The Roots" and "Hip - Hop" you can watch the documentary below. Very instructive, though there ain't any visuals in it. Have a good listening :-)
But my connection with this band came when I listened to the album "Things Fall Apart". It's not their first album, but third main album and this is a really amazing thing to listen to. Especially listening to it now in our contemporary music world where we are presented with artists who in my opinion are completely out of phase with the soul and desire of the audience. This "dissonance" in music is most present in genres like Hip - Hop (well that's just an opinion of course).
Having bands like "The Roots" is a real breath of air in a such polluted world as ours (talking music - wise of course). Anyway if you feel like listening to something genuine and which stands out. Definitely advice you "The Roots". Do enjoy...
Listening to "How I Got Over" (2010). Really impressed. Thanx for paying my attention on them.
